Overview of Lab established at Tata Motors - Pantnagar

We have established the "Electric Vehicle Laboratory at Tata Motors, Pantnagar," which was commissioned on March 29th, 2024. This state-of-the-art lab is designed to serve as a central hub for apprentices and researchers to delve into various aspects of electric vehicle (EV) technology. By providing hands-on learning opportunities, the lab enables participants to conduct comprehensive research projects and gain practical experience in EV fundamentals and development. This setup is crucial for educating graduate engineers and pushing the boundaries of EV technology.

The Electric Vehicle Laboratory is equipped with advanced tools and facilities, making it an invaluable resource for Tata Motors employees. The lab's agenda focuses on setting a strong foundation in EV fundamentals and upskilling employees in the EV domain. Through practical sessions and real-world applications, employees are able to acquire critical insights into the operational intricacies of electric vehicles. This advanced-level lab ensures that participants are well-prepared to meet the challenges and complexities associated with modern EV technology.

Looking ahead, Decibels Lab is committed to creating a centre of excellence in electric vehicle Battery Management Systems (BMS) algorithm development. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency, lifespan, and safety of batteries by developing smarter algorithms for state estimation, charge/discharge optimization, and thermal management. By focusing on cutting-edge research and development in BMS technology, we aim to push the envelope of what is possible in the EV domain, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Furthermore, our future plans include extensive efforts to upskill employees to keep pace with the rapidly evolving EV industry. Through specialized training programs and ongoing education, we aim to ensure that Tata Motors' workforce remains at the forefront of industry developments. This approach not only enhances individual skill sets but also contributes to the overall growth and competitiveness of the company. The Electric Vehicle Laboratory at Pantnagar will be instrumental in achieving these goals, supporting the development of a highly skilled workforce and driving innovation in electric vehicle technology.
