The Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering - Decibels Lab Electric Vehicle Lab was officially commissioned on May 2nd, 2024, marking a significant milestone in our pursuit of cutting-edge Electric Vehicle (EV) technology. This state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced equipment such as,
Cell Testing And Characterization
Lithium-ion Battery Pack Testing And Characterization
Traction Motor Testing and Characterization
At the core of our EV lab setup is the Cell Testing and Characterization lab, which plays a crucial role in verifying data sheets from cell vendors and providing valuable insights into the behaviour of Lithium-ion cells under different charging and discharging conditions. This understanding is pivotal for learners and researchers as it guides them in making informed decisions for various applications within the EV domain.
Moving beyond cell-level analysis, our lab extends its capabilities to battery pack testing and characterization, allowing for a deeper understanding of battery performance and behaviour. By conducting various test cases, learners can gain insights into the nuances of battery pack performance, which is essential for designing and optimizing EV systems.
The traction motor testing bench is another highlight of our lab, enabling learners to explore the performance characteristics of traction motors. Through detailed analysis of motor torque, speed, operating points, and efficiency, participants can grasp the intricacies of motor usage and selection for specific applications, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency in EVs.
Looking ahead, our lab is poised for continuous growth and evolution. We envision expanding our partnerships, offering specialized training programs, and fostering collaborative research initiatives to accelerate the adoption of sustainable mobility solutions. Our lab is committed to driving innovation and excellence in EV technology and sustainable mobility solutions with future upgrades planned, including electric vehicle testing, load-based two-wheel chassis dynamometer, and data acquisition capabilities.
