Product Overview

The EV Powertrain Simulation Software Lab from Decibels Lab is an advanced learning and development platform designed to enable students, researchers, and engineers to understand and develop electric vehicle powertrain systems using Model-Based Design (MBD) methodologies with MATLAB® and Simulink®.

The platform provides ready-to-use quasi-static and dynamic EV powertrain simulation models integrated with vehicle physics, mathematical modelling, and real-world driving cycle analysis. Users can simulate complete electric vehicle behaviour, evaluate subsystem interactions, and optimize powertrain sizing, including battery packs, electric motors, transmission systems, and vehicle performance parameters.

The lab enables users to study vehicle energy consumption, operating points, torque-speed requirements, efficiency maps, and drive-cycle-based performance analysis from a complete vehicle system perspective.

The setup enables students, researchers, and engineers to:

  • Develop complete EV powertrain simulation models
  • Simulate vehicle performance across different drive cycles
  • Perform battery and motor sizing studies
  • Analyse vehicle energy consumption and efficiency
  • Evaluate acceleration and vehicle operating characteristics
  • Analyse vehicle operating points and powertrain behaviour
  • Study complete vehicle performance from a system-level perspective
