Electric Vehicle Lab at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore
Decibels Electric Vehicle Lab at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College offers advanced EV tech training and research
\
The Electric Vehicle Lab at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC), Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, was successfully commissioned in collaboration with Decibels Lab as part of the institution’s initiative to strengthen industry-aligned education, practical learning, and skill development in electric mobility.
Designed to provide focused exposure to electric vehicle powertrain systems and motor testing methodologies, the facility enables students and faculty members to gain hands-on understanding of motor performance evaluation, load testing, efficiency analysis, and system-level experimentation used in electric vehicle development. The lab bridges the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world EV engineering practices through application-oriented experimentation.
The Electric Vehicle Lab is equipped with an industry-grade platform, including:
This setup enables learners to perform structured experiments and practical demonstrations related to motor torque measurement, speed–torque characteristics, efficiency analysis, load testing, power calculations, and performance evaluation under varying operating conditions. Through this platform, students gain direct exposure to electric motor testing procedures and powertrain validation workflows aligned with industry practices.
To ensure effective utilization of the infrastructure, the Decibels Lab team conducted a 1-day intensive hands-on training program for faculty members and students, focusing on system operation, experiment execution, safety practices, data interpretation, and practical applications in electric vehicle powertrain systems. The Electric Vehicle Lab empowers the institution to support practical learning, academic projects, and industry-oriented skill development in electric mobility engineering, strengthening its commitment to preparing future-ready engineers for careers in EV, automotive, and sustainable transportation domains.
