Electric Vehicle Lab at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat
Decibels Electric Vehicle Lab at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology offers advanced EV tech training and research
The Electric Vehicle Lab at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat was established in collaboration with Decibels Lab as part of the institution’s initiative to strengthen industry-aligned education, hands-on learning, and advanced skill development in electric mobility.
The Electric Vehicle Lab is designed to provide focused exposure to Battery Management Systems (BMS) and battery control technologies, enabling students and faculty members to gain practical understanding of BMS algorithm development, simulation, testing, and real-time implementation workflows used in modern electric vehicles.
The facility is equipped with an industry-grade platform:
The BMS Algorithm Development Lab enables learners to develop and test key battery management functions through a structured, application-oriented workflow. The platform provides hands-on exposure to battery monitoring, SOC and SOH estimation, cell balancing, protection strategies, algorithm development, and real-time validation, helping students understand the complete BMS development process from algorithm design to implementation.
The facility enables students and faculty to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world EV engineering practices through practical experimentation, academic projects, and research-oriented activities. By working with industry-relevant BMS development tools and workflows, learners can build technical competencies aligned with the growing requirements of the electric vehicle and energy storage industries.
Through this collaboration with Decibels Lab, SVNIT strengthens its commitment to developing future-ready engineers with practical expertise in Battery Management Systems, electric mobility, and advanced energy storage technologies.
