Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence at GITAM Deemed to be University, Bengaluru
Decibels Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence at GITAM Deemed to be University offers advanced EV tech training and research
The Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence (EV CoE) at GITAM Deemed University, Bengaluru, was successfully commissioned on 23rd January 2026, in collaboration with Decibels Lab. This state-of-the-art facility marks a significant milestone in strengthening industry-aligned education, applied research, and skill development in electric mobility.
Designed as a comprehensive EV engineering ecosystem, the center enables students, faculty, and researchers to gain hands-on exposure across the complete electric vehicle development lifecycle—from cell-level testing to vehicle-level validation.
The EV CoE is equipped with industry-grade hardware and software platforms, including:
These facilities provide students with real-world engineering exposure, bridging the gap between classroom theory and industry expectations. The EV CoE enables hands-on experiments, capstone projects, and model-based BMS development, along with battery and powertrain testing aligned to industry practices.
To ensure effective utilization of the infrastructure, faculty members underwent a 3-day intensive hands-on training conducted by the Decibels Lab team, equipping them to deliver practical, industry-relevant learning and significantly enhancing student employability in the electric mobility domain.
As part of the long-term collaboration between GITAM Deemed University and Decibels Lab, the Electric Vehicle Center of Excellence will continue to evolve as a hub for advanced training and applied research. Future plans include the launch of collaborative academic and professional programs such as Post Graduate Diploma Programs (PGDP), Professional Certification Courses (PCE), and M.Tech programs in electric vehicle–related domains. These initiatives are designed to provide structured, industry-driven education pathways and position GITAM University as a leading center for EV skilling, innovation, and research in India.
Gain a comprehensive understanding of Li-ion cell and battery pack behavior for electric vehicle applications.
Develop strong capabilities in designing and validating Battery Management System (BMS) algorithms using model-based design (MBD) approaches for single-cell and multi-cell systems.
Enhance hands-on learning and innovation through practical exposure to EV powertrain testing, vehicle-level experimentation, and dynamometer-based validation.
Build industry-relevant technical skills among both students and faculty through structured training and real-world engineering workflows.
Enable collaborative research, academic programs, and industry partnerships focused on electric mobility technologies and future-ready EV solutions.
