Overview of Lab established at MIT Academy of Engineering, Pune

Decibels Lab is proud to have established a state-of-the-art Center of Excellence in Battery Management Systems (BMS) at MIT Academy of Engineering, Pune, on 13th October 2025. Through this collaboration, our goal is to enable students, researchers, and faculty to gain practical exposure to advanced Battery Management Systems and Electric Vehicle (EV) technologies. The center provides a hands-on learning environment where participants can engage in real-world experimentation, testing, and algorithm development, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry-ready skills.

The lab is designed to serve as a high-impact platform for innovation, research, and skill development in Battery Testing and BMS Algorithm Development — two of the most critical domains shaping the future of electric mobility.

The facility is equipped with advanced testing and development systems, including:

  • 5V 20A Cell Testing Machine
  • Single Cell BMS Algorithm Development Lab

These facilities together provide a comprehensive ecosystem for research and training, helping students understand how BMS hardware and software interact in real EV applications. Learners gain the ability to connect theoretical principles of electrochemistry, control systems, and embedded programming with hands-on development and testing of battery systems.

The collaboration between MIT Academy of Engineering and Decibels Lab reflects a shared commitment to industry-aligned education and innovation. This center supports both academic research and applied training, enabling participants to develop expertise in areas like battery diagnostics, embedded control algorithms, cell balancing logic, and energy management.

Looking ahead, both institutions envision expanding this initiative into a full-fledged Center of Excellence in Electric Vehicle Technology, integrating advanced simulation tools, digital twin modeling, and comprehensive EV subsystem testing. The goal is to build a future-ready learning environment that fosters R&D, strengthens academia–industry collaboration, and contributes to India’s growing electric mobility ecosystem.

Outcomes of EV COE
