Course overview

What is Model-Based Design (MBD)

Model-Based Design (MBD) is a mathematical and visual method of addressing problems associated with designing complex control, signal processing, and communication systems. It is used in many motion controls, industrial equipment, aerospace, and automotive applications, embedded systems, system modeling, state estimations & optimizations, etc.. Model-based design is a methodology applied in designing embedded software. During the past years, there is a growing interest of more and more medium to small size engineering companies in order to cut down development time and costs.

Model-Based Design (MBD) is applicable for all the engineers from departments such as Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, Aerospace & more. Visit the Scilab website to check out more of its applications: https://www.scilab.org/applications

About Scilab & Why Scilab

Scilab is a powerful Open source software for numerical computation. Scilab includes hundreds of mathematical functions. It has a high-level programming language allowing access to advanced data structures, 2-D, and 3-D graphical functions. A large number of functionalities is included in Scilab: control, simulation, optimization, signal processing, etc. and Xcos, the hybrid dynamic systems modeler and simulator is provided with the platform.

Scilab & Xcos toolbox offers very competitive features and it’s a 280 MB files, easy to download the run even on lesser configuration systems. Which is very easy for students to download and use for the needs.
