Overview of Phase 2 – EV-RIC Lab Expansion at GLA University, Mathura

We have expanded the "EV-RIC (Electric Vehicle Research and Innovation Centre)" at GLA University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, with the successful completion of Phase 2 of the EV laboratory infrastructure. This upgraded facility further strengthens the university’s commitment to providing a comprehensive ecosystem for students and researchers to explore advanced electric vehicle (EV) technologies. The new additions include:

  • Automotive Communication Unit
  • Electric Test Vehicle

These advanced systems enable students to gain hands-on experience in vehicle communication protocols, data acquisition, diagnostics, and real-time EV performance evaluation, making the lab even more robust for technical learning and practical research.

The Phase 2 enhancement of the EV-RIC provides deeper industry-oriented training and promotes practical innovation in electric mobility. By integrating full-vehicle testing capabilities and communication engineering tools, this upgraded setup bridges classroom concepts with real-world EV applications. It enables learners to develop a clearer understanding of vehicle integration, subsystem interactions, and diagnostic methods essential for modern EV development.

During the installation of the Phase 2 infrastructure, comprehensive training sessions were conducted for faculty members to ensure effective handling and operation of the newly integrated systems, along with refresher sessions on the Phase 1 equipment. GLA University also organized a 5-day workshop on Automotive CAN & BMS Development, delivered by the Decibels Lab team, fostering active student participation and hands-on learning. These training initiatives, combined with the upgraded facilities, empower students with industry-ready skills and confidence to pursue roles such as EV Test Engineer, Automotive Diagnostics & CAN Engineer, and EV Powertrain Test Engineer—positions that are in high demand across leading automotive companies including Tata Motors, Mahindra Electric, Ola Electric, Ather Energy, TVS, and Bajaj.

In collaboration with Decibels Lab, GLA University continues to strengthen this facility to ensure it stays at the forefront of EV technology education. The partnership focuses on providing real-time vehicle testing environments, advanced communication analysis, and expanded opportunities for applied research. This initiative aims to transform the EV-RIC into a comprehensive learning and training hub that offers industry-level exposure, equipping students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to excel in the EV sector.

Looking ahead, the EV-RIC at GLA University is poised to evolve into a leading center of excellence in electric mobility. The ongoing collaboration with Decibels Lab will emphasize advanced EV diagnostics, communication engineering, and full-vehicle validation studies, significantly contributing to the growth of future-ready engineers. This upgraded lab not only enhances the academic journey of students but also plays a crucial role in driving innovation and progress in the rapidly developing electric vehicle industry.
