Overview of Lab established at Erode Sengunthar Engineering College, Tamil Nadu

We have established the Center of Excellence in Electric Vehicle Technology (EV-COE) at Erode Sengunthar Engineering College, Perundurai, Tamil Nadu, on 8th April 2025, to serve as a hub for students and researchers to explore various aspects of EV technology. This advanced facility provides hands-on training, research opportunities, and industry-focused learning, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications in electric mobility.  The EV-COE is equipped with:

  1. Electric Vehicle Components Demonstration Kit
  2. Lithium-Ion Cell Testing and Characterization Unit
  3. Lithium-Ion Cell and Pack Thermal Test Chamber
  4. Lithium-Ion Single-Cell BMS Algorithm Development Lab
  5. Lithium-Ion Multi-Cell BMS Algorithm Development Lab
  6. Lithium-Ion Battery Pack Testing Unit
  7. Lithium-Ion Battery Pack Manufacturing Lab
  8. Electric Motor Testing and Characterization Unit
  9. 2W Chassis Dynamometer with Regenerative Load
  10. Electric Two-Wheeler Testing and Data Acquisition Lab
  11. Electric Vehicle Advanced Powertrain Bench
  12. Automotive CAN (Controller Area Network) Communication Unit

The collaboration between Erode Sengunthar Engineering College and Decibels Lab aims to continuously enhance the Advanced EV-COE, equipping it with cutting-edge tools to support research and innovation in electric vehicle technology. The lab is designed to provide students and faculty with industry-relevant skills, offering hands-on exposure to advanced EV systems, component testing, and powertrain analysis. By simulating real-world industry conditions, the EV-COE ensures learners gain practical expertise in EV design, development, and validation.

Looking ahead, Erode Sengunthar Engineering College and Decibels Lab plan to expand the Advanced EV-COE into a premier research and training center for electric vehicle technology. Future upgrades will include the integration of sophisticated equipment and specialized training programs, fostering a hub for innovation, industry collaboration, and skill development. The goal is to create a dynamic learning ecosystem that empowers students and professionals to drive advancements in the evolving EV sector.
